If you’re a Star Wars fan and love building with LEGO bricks, you’ll be glad to know that LEGO has expanded its Ultimate Collector Series portfolio to include one of the legendary starships in the Star Wars franchise. The LEGO Star Wars UCS X-Wing 75355 is slated to be released starting May 4, just in time for the May the 4th celebrations. Designed by Henrik Andersen, who was also responsible for the original X-Wing set, this latest version is a testament to the level of expertise and passion that goes into every LEGO creation.
The newest LEGO Star Wars UCS X-Wing set is a more refined version of Andersen’s earlier design, with several updates and new elements that make it stand out. One of the most notable changes is the hexagonal tapering nose section, which has been designed for the first time. The engines have also been updated to the correct size and shape, and new pieces have been created to replicate the proper rear angle of the wings.
But that’s not all. The canopy and the plaque have also been decorated for the first time, adding a touch of detail that fans are sure to appreciate. According to Andersen, the most impressive feature is the prominent engine parts that give the ship its unique silhouette. Even the S-foils have been designed to work seamlessly without requiring any super technical build.
The LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series X-Wing Starfighter (75355) also comes with two minifigures: Luke Skywalker and R2-D2. What’s more, the Luke Skywalker minifigure has been updated with a new design, including a lightsaber, while the R2-D2 minifigure has been modified with a new dome. Both minifigs are a faithful LEGO rendition of the original characters as we remember them in The Return of the Jedi and The Empire Strikes Back.
The display stand is an essential component of any LEGO building set, especially when it comes to the Ultimate Collector Series. The stand included with the X-Wing set has been designed to show off the starfighter in the best possible way. The plaque features detailed X-wing technical data, while there’s ample space to showcase Red Five, Luke Skywalker, and his lightsaber. According to Andersen, the stand not only enhances the look of the model but also allows viewers to admire it from all angles.
LEGO VIP members can get their hands on the LEGO Star Wars UCS X-Wing Starfighter (75355) starting May 1, 2023, through LEGO’s online shopping portal and physical stores. For the rest of us, the set will be available on May 4, 2023.
