List of Puppy Names in “101 Dalmatians”

From the original 1956 novel written by British author Dodie Smith, to the multimedia franchise it has since become under Disney, 101 Dalmatians has come a long way. We’ll start this week with a list of all prominent Dalmatian puppies that were given names across all adaptations of the story.

The list is in two parts, one a rundown of the most prominent puppies in the book and Disney franchise, with pertinent information about them. The rest are simply background puppies that are just there and haven’t done anything significant.

Prominent Dalmatian Puppies

1. Patch – rowdy and noisy; main character of Disney’s direct-to-video 101D sequel Patch’s London Adventure
2. Lucky – the puppy that almost didn’t survive his birth until revitalized by Roger; has a horseshoe-shaped patch on his back; one of the bravest puppies
3. Roly-Poly – called Rolly for short; always hungry and tells his mother Perdita so; makes all his decisions based on getting food; has a strong sense of smell as a result
4. Cadpig – the runt of Pongo and Perdita’s litter of 15 puppies, with a larger head and floppy ears; in the 1997 Disney TV series, she is the puppy that almost didn’t make it instead of Lucky; a prominent character in Dodie Smith’s book and its sequel
5. Penny – in the animated film, the female puppy that loved to sit at her father Pongo’s feet
6. Freckles – also in the animated film, the pup that tended to sit on Pongo’s head
7. Pepper – the puppy said to have the smallest spots in the litter
8. Jewel – in the 1996 live-action film, the first puppy to receive a collar from Roger and Anita
9. Dipstick – also in the 1996 film, the pup with his tail covered by a black patch at the tip; in the live-action sequel 102 Dalmatians, he is an adult and parent (with his mate Dottie) of three pups sought by Cruella
10. Fidget – the third puppy to get a collar; he tended to scratch himself often
11. Two-Tone – the fourth puppy to get a collar
12. Whizzer – the un-housebroken puppy with poor bladder control
