Fans around the world were ecstatic to hear the news that the Fantastic Four would be joining the MCU at Comic-Con 2019.
When will “Fantastic Four MCU” be out in theaters? The cast, crew and other details can be found below
Previously, Fantastic Four movies were produced by 20th Century Fox. However, after Disney’s acquisition of Fox, Marvel Studios (a Disney company) acquired the rights to use these characters in the MCU.
There’s a lot to dissect, so let’s dive into all we know about the Fantastic Four’s Phase Six MCU debut.
-
What is the release date for “Fantastic Four MCU”?
The Marvel Studios films released in Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are based on Marvel Comics characters and include an American cast.
From late 2024 until mid-2026, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will distribute all of Marvel Studios’ films as part of Phase Six.
Fantastic Four will now open in theaters on February 14, 2025, instead of the previously anticipated November 8, 2024, when it was first revealed by Kevin Feige at San Diego Comic-Con.
The film will still kick off Phase 6 following the conclusion of Marvel’s Phase 4 with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Phase 5 with Thunderbolts.

Can you tell me more about the story of “Fantastic Four MCU”?
Marvel has yet to unveil the Fantastic Four film’s premise, however Kevin Feige has stated that it will not be an origin story.
The initial source of the quartet’s superpowers was exposure to cosmic rays during a scientific journey to outer space, but it appears that this will no longer be depicted on screen.
“This backstory is very common knowledge. Common knowledge is widespread. How can we use that to show them something completely new? The standard we’ve set for getting that to the screen is extremely high,†Feige said at San Diego Comic-Con.
It makes natural that Marvel would take a different tack for the new film, given that the origin narrative has served as the basis for the prior adaptations.
In addition to this, the company rarely uses canonical plots in the MCU films.
Given that the Fantastic Four made their debut in 1961, there are a wide variety of potential stories they could pursue.
Namor, the Silver Surfer, Galactus, Doctor Doom, and KI’rt are just a few of the villains the next film may feature. Lee Pace, who played Ronan the Accuser in Captain Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy, has also crossed paths with them in the past.

What actors/actresses will be in the new “Fantastic Four MCU” film?
Despite several reports, the Fantastic Four have not yet found their cast. Whether or whether any of Marvel’s former stars will be returning to reprise their roles in the future film has not even been revealed. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear anything official about the Fantastic Four’s cast. We have compiled what is known so far about the main cast, including Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm.
The rumored cast (that should be taken with a grain of salt) for the Fantastic Four: Jamie Dornan as Reed Richards, Amanda Seyfried as Sue Storm, and Joe Keery as Johnny Storm. Should Spielberg join as producer, then Ben Grimm will be cast! Again, this is all a rumor. pic.twitter.com/6yTHw8wU6s

- Will anyone be cast as Reed Richards? Will Fantastic Four feature John Krasinski?
Although the cast has not yet been set in stone, there has been no shortage of leaks, speculations, or conjecture about who would represent Marvel’s famous family.
Despite the fact that John Krasinski played Reed Richards from Universe-838 in the 2022 film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it is unclear whether or not Krasinski will reprise his role as Reed Richards from the core MCU (Universe-616).
In a December interview with The Wrap, Krasinski seemed to rule out such a scenario when he said, “being turned into spaghetti wasn’t my end goal in life as far as how it goes in the Marvel universe, but you know what, it was fun nonetheless.”
Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey), Penn Badgley (You), and Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) have also been mentioned as potential replacements for Chris Evans in the role of Reed Richards.
Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) was mentioned as a potential replacement for Reed Richards in a rumor published by Giant Freakin Robot in December.
Adam Driver, who plays Kylo Ren, has reportedly emerged as the frontrunner to play Reed. Scooper Daniel Richtman claims that Driver has been officially cast in the role of Richards.

- Susie Storm—who will play her? What about Emily Blunt as Sue Storm?
Sue Storm, also known as the Invisible Woman, is the wife of Mister Fantastic and a member of the Fantastic Four.
Due to her exposure to cosmic radiation, she now possesses the ability to become invisible and construct force fields.
She has previously been portrayed by Jessica Alba and Kate Mara in cinematic adaptations. However, no actor has expressed interest in playing the part again.
Margot Robbie has reportedly been offered the role of Sue Storm.

Fans have wondered if Krasinski’s real-life wife Emily Blunt may play the part.
She famously had to decline the part of Black Widow, which ultimately went actress Scarlett Johansson, because of scheduling conflicts.
They have a history of cinematic collaboration thanks to their roles in both A Quiet Place films.
Blunt has already stated that the speculation is founded only on fan castings. In 2020, she commented about fan casting on The Howard Stern Show.
Nobody has gotten a call yet. What you’re hearing is people asking, “Wouldn’t that be great?”
While the film won’t shoot till top of 24, word around town is the Marvel will begin gearing up casting process of F4 this month. No names rumored for now but the belief is the focus will be casting Sue Storm first and building out the rest of team after she is set. Stay Tuned

- And who will portray Johnny Storm?
Sue’s younger brother, Johnny Storm, also suffers from cosmic radiation exposure on their disastrous mission.
He gains the ability to transform his body into a plasma-like state of intense heat. So far, there have been no whispers about who might play this part.
Chris Evans and Michael B. Jordan have already portrayed him.
The role of Johnny Storm has reportedly been offered to Paul Mescal!

Chris Evans, who played Cap in Universe-616, has expressed interest in reprising his 2005 role as Johnny Storm.
Given his subsequent success as Captain America in the MCU, it’s highly doubtful that Chris Evans will ever play the Human Torch again.
In Black Panther, Jordan made his first appearance as a new Marvel Cinematic Universe character, Erik Killmonger. Therefore, we anticipate a recasting of the part.
- Ben Grimm, played by whom?
Astronaut Ben Grimm went to space with his best pal Richards.
But the cosmic radiation had the most dramatic effect on his physique, transforming him into The Thing, a monster with the strength of a rock.
The 2005 and 2007 versions starred Michael Chiklis, while the 2015 one stars Jamie Bell.
Neither actor has any plans to return to the role, but Chiklis did provide some guidance to their potential replacement.
Finally, there haven’t been many reports about who will play Ben Grimm, but Seth Rogen (Knocked Up) seems to be the frontrunner.

In 2024, who will take the helm of Fantastic Four?
Jon Watts was hired to direct Fantastic Four shortly after the film’s announcement. The director is responsible for Sony Pictures’ and Marvel Studios’ blockbuster Spider-Man trilogy, which includes the films Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. But he has now officially said that he would not direct another superhero film.
The Direct stated at the end of 2017 that Shakman has been hired to direct Fantastic Four for Marvel.
Fantastic Four will be directed by Matt Shakman, who previously helmed WandaVision, it was announced at D23.
Scriptwriter Josh Friedman (Avatar 2, Snowpiercer) has reportedly been hired to work on the project.
Friedman is taking over writing duties from Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, which may indicate a shift in tone toward greater seriousness for the Fantastic Four from Marvel.
