Miniseries creator Kyle Bradstreet is adapting a Marvel Comics plot with the same name for Disney+. Based on the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), this will be the ninth TV series produced by Marvel Studios.
Secret Invasion: Latest Marvel Studios Clip Debuts Online
A new footage from Disney and Marvel Studios’ upcoming series “Secret Invasion,” which is set in the modern MCU, has been revealed.
Nick Fury has seen significant evolution from his youth. The previous director of SHIELD oversaw the internal collapse of his organization before he faked his own death, disappeared for five years, and eventually found himself in charge of interplanetary operations aboard a space station. Since we last saw Nick Fury at the end of 2008’s Iron Man, he’s gone through a lot, and it’ll show the next time we see him on screen.
Nick Fury finds that a group of Skrulls who can assume human form have infiltrated Earth and are conducting a covert invasion while passing themselves off as ordinary citizens. Hill’s statement in the trailer that she has been working with Talos suggests that the major Skrull we’ve engaged with in the MCU since Spider-Man: Far From Home isn’t as closely working with Fury as he was during those events.
Together with Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos who has settled on Earth, Fury forms an alliance. They must work together quickly to stop the impending Skrull invasion and save Earth.
James Rhodes, aka War Machine, will make an unspecified appearance in Secret Invasion alongside Fury, Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), Everett Ross (Martin Freeman), and Talos (Ben Mendelsohn). Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, and Kingsley Ben-Adir are some other recent additions to the MCU.
The Marvel series Secret Invasion, starring Samuel L. Jackson’s Fury, will premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, with new episodes dropping every week thereafter.
The Must-See Show Before the Covert Invasion
Since the Skrulls are involved, Secret Invasion has the strongest ties to Captain Marvel, so you might want to watch that first. Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Sony’s Spider-Man: Far From Home are just two of the many excellent Nick Fury films you may rewatch.
Fortunately, though, Secret Invasion can be enjoyed largely independently of the other episodes. Emilia Clarke recently spoke with Empire Magazine, where she indicated that viewers won’t need to rewatch a lot of Marvel movies to follow the events of Secret Invasion.
“It’s definitely a show for the fans, but it’s also a show that my mum, who doesn’t watch Marvel, will watch and get, do you know what I mean,” Clarke remarked. “You can get into dangerous territory sometimes with this sort of genre where if you haven’t watched all 17 other films or shows, you’re not going to get it. This isn’t that at all.”
Chris Pratt is a well-known actor who is frequently cast in Marvel productions. In the MCU films “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014), “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” (2017), “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018), and “Avengers: Endgame” (2019), he portrays Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord.
