More exciting news has arrived as Lucasfilm Studio revealed new details about the upcoming Disney+ series, Star Wars: The Acolyte during the Star Wars Celebration 2023 event in London. Set to release in 2024, this mystery-thriller series is sure to take viewers on a thrilling journey through the final days of the High Republic era.
Created by Leslye Headland, who serves as the showrunner, The Acolyte promises to delve into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers. The series follows a former Padawan who reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes. But what they uncover is more sinister than they ever anticipated.

Joining Headland and producer Kathleen Kennedy on stage were some of the stars of the show, including Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-Jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, and Joonas Suotamo, who plays Kelnacca. In addition to writing and directing, Headland is an executive producer alongside Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef. Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson produce.
Footage and Production
Guests at the Star Wars Celebration event were treated to some exclusive footage from the show. The series is set hundreds of years before the events of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace and features lots of Jedi, Force-wielding action. From what attendees have seen, the footage promises to be goosebump-inducing. The Acolyte is currently in the final stages of filming, set to finish in May, after which special effects work will commence.
Release Date
“The Acolyte” is set to release exclusively on Disney+ in 2024, with no confirmed release date as of yet. Headland has confirmed that she submitted the first four episodes to Kennedy and the production team for review.
