Big Hero 6 is in many ways, a courageous film. Other than the brave, anime-inspired characters and artwork, it is Disney’s first animated feature to include characters from Marvel Entertainment since its acquisition of the latter in 2009. The venture turned out to be a huge success, with the film earning $657 million worldwide, and bagging the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film of the Year in 2015.
Well, I’m speaking in terms of numbers but putting these figures aside, Big Hero 6 is one of Disney’s best animated films so far, fusing elements from Japanese manga with those of Marvel’s high-powered characterization. I love the concept of how a group of seemingly ordinary teens can become technologically empowered in their fight against a mysterious enemy. Throw in a fluffy, battle-ready personal health care companion and you have one hilariously action-packed film.
