Once more, the choices we make and the actions we take will shape us into Forces of Destiny as the Star Wars web-series from Lucasfilm Animation returns for a second season. Said season, comprising of eight episodes, was first announced in September 2017, and has been released online on YouTube.
Now, while many viewers may have appreciated the concept of Forces of Destiny as showcasing the various female characters of the Star Wars saga in action, critics would deride the show as “feminist pandering”. Their tune should change with one of the S2 episodes, featuring a guy: Luke Skywalker himself.
Even better, they got actor Mark Hamill to reprise his iconic role for episode 7 “The Path Ahead”, which elaborates on Luke’s Jedi training under Yoda on planet Dagobah. Hamill calls on his veteran voice acting skills to recapture a youngish voice as much as possible for Luke once more.
If you were wondering what brought on the sequence in The Empire Strikes Back, of Luke jumping through the Dagobah swamps with Yoda riding in a pack on his back, this episode answers your question. Some of the other episodes also take place “in between” movies or even film scenes.
For instance, episode 6 “Bounty Hunted” would explain how Princess Leia got her bounty hunter costume in Return of the Jedi. These and other adventures can be watch on Star Wars: Forces of Destiny, now available for viewing on Disney’s YouTube channel, before premiering on Disney Channel this March 25.
