Florida’s Walt Disney World has been on a spree of expansion with many of its constituent theme parks. Most prominent among these is Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It has some big-name additions to its existing areas in development, such as the immersive interactive Star Wars themed zone known as Galaxy’s Edge.
Aside from a Galaxy far, far away, Hollywood Studios is also working on another themed expansion. This one is based on the CG-animated film that marked the start of the powerhouse tandem between Disney and Pixar: Toy Story. And this Toy Story Land is almost ready to open; but when?
Ponder no more. The House of Mouse made an official announcement last week on Friday, February 16. Hollywood Studios’ Toy Story Land will open its doors to guest in the middle of the year, June 30. The news was also shared online, by local Orlando newspapers on their Twitter accounts.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Bob Chapek said in his Friday statement, “With set pieces, staging, attractions and experiences Toy Story Land represents the best of Walt Disney Imagineering’s collaboration with our storytelling partners at Pixar Animation Studios.” The area covers about 11 acres filled with family-grade amusement rides.
In-universe, Toy Story Land is said to be patterned after a massive play area assembled by Andy in his backyard. It includes a roller coaster themed after Slinky the dog and a saucer ride with the Little Green Men where they try to grapple the guests’ rocket-vehicles with “The Claw”.
Other features of the area are dining establishments such as a restaurant called Woody’s Lunch Box. It won’t be long now before the miniature model of Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios become realized when the actual expansion is opened to guests, and they can experience being toys for day.
