Black Panther Rules in Marvel Mobile Games Before Film Release

There’s only about a limited number of ways we at Disney Movies List can talk about Marvel Studios’ MCU film Black Panther, about its strong and positive initial impressions from its world premiere, and about the impending blockbuster success it would enjoy on its wide release, with sounding boringly repetitive.

So why don’t we talk about Black Panther from another angle? It’s probably one of the biggest Marvel movies yet to come out, and so it’s therefore understandable that Marvel Entertainment and its Disney parent, will want to market the character as much as possible, starting with their videogame sector.

Already, a number of their current Marvel-themed mobile app games, many of which have a sizable player base, are adding the character of Black Panther, King T’Challa of Wakanda, into their roster of playable characters.

If he’s already a part of the game, then he likely gets a costume variant similar to his portrayal in the upcoming movie, where he’s played by Chadwick Boseman. Some of his supporting cast and antagonists have also joined him wherever he appears.

For example, Kabam’s Marvel: Contest of Champions has released a limited-time event called “Michael B. Jordan’s Challenge”, adding bad guy Erik Killmonger (played by Jordan) in their Battlerealm feature.

Then there’s Netmarble’s Marvel Future Fight, which already has Black Panther and therefore gets a new costume. Killmonger is also added, along with Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis) and T’Challa’s sister Shuri (Letitia Wright).

Next is the more kiddie-oriented Marvel Puzzle Quest, which adds new puzzles to solve themed after the MCU movie.

And that’s merely the beginning. Another app, Marvel Avengers Academy will soon have their own Black Panther additions update soon. So too will the console title LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 be receiving MCU-style DLC in synergy with the movie, due to premiere on February 16.
