We know that there are three movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe coming this 2018; we know the second film is Avengers: Infinity War, premiering in May. What some fans don’t know, unless they diligently follow these things, is that the fourth Avengers movie has been filming since August 2017.
The last known schedule of principal photography for the yet-untitled Avengers 4 is in July of this year, but already some of the cast members have been reporting that they’ve completed all their scenes for the movie. The latest actor to announce this is Jeremy Renner, who plays Clint Barton/Hawkeye.
In an Instagram post, Renner put up a video from the set, saying that he’s wrapped up all his filming for Avengers 4. Here he hints that he may not be around in the MCU immediately after the movie (he was last in Captain America: Civil War back in 2016).
Still, he says, this part in the future MCU film doesn’t exactly mean “goodbye.” Rather, he’s merely bidding the fans a “see you later,” vaguely implying a far-off return. Renner signed off by remarking that, despite his excitement for the movie, he’s still happy to return home to his daughter.
Previous updates made by Renner on social media have been teases of what he’s been doing during the film’s principal photography. He broached the possibility that his character would follow his comic-book counterpart in adopting the alternate identity of Ronin, but that he’s still using his trusty bow and arrow.
Aside from Jeremy Renner, other MCU stars that announced their Avengers 4 filming completion include Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Paul Bettany (Vision) and Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch). The untitled Avengers movie premieres on May 2019, while Infinity War hits cinemas in the same month this year.
