Avengers: Infinity War, the third Avengers film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the one that finally brings to the fore the long-teased cosmic-level villain Thanos (Josh Brolin), is set to blow cinema audiences away this year, three months after the premier of the first MCU installment for 2018, Black Panther.
Not only does it assemble the eponymous Marvel superhero team, broken since the events of Captain America: Civil War back in 2016, it also gathers every other MCU hero who has gotten their own films. This includes Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who will be debuting in one of his most remarkable comic-book costumes ever.
Towards the end of his movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming, we see Peter Parker/Spider-Man being offered a new armor-like and tech-laden costume by Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) for his planned induction into the Avengers (which Pete eventually turned down).
Marvel Comic readers would immediately peg the costume as the MCU version of the “Iron Spider” costume, which debuted in the original 2006 Civil War comic book crossover. This guess seems pretty much confirmed by leaked information on an upcoming LEGO Marvel Comics set to debut this year, as a merchandise tie-in to Infinity War.
A certain LEGO collector and insider managed to get his hands on some of the Marvel minifigures included in these future LEGO Marvel sets. They included depictions of the Avengers as they looked in Infinity War, such as the blond Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and a bearded Captain America (Chris Evans). These minifigures were featured in a YouTube video, including Spider-Man who is already featured in trailers finally wearing the new Stark-made suit.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War also stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Rufallo, Jeremy Renner, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Rudd, and the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy among so many others. It’s set to premiere on May 4.
