We are accustomed to the fact that bears do hibernate, and they need to stock up on their food supplies until spring arrives and jumpstarts Mother Nature all over again. However, when the wise and discerning black leopard Bagheera (voiced by Ben Kingsley) sees through the fast one that Bill Murray’s Baloo is trying to pull off at the man-cub Mowgli (played by Neel Sethi), Bagheera has some pretty choice words for the ‘hibernating’ bear. Of course, Mowgli was also not spared from Bagheera’s scolding. The man-cub still has plenty of things to learn after all, it’s a jungle out there. If he wants to survive the harsh reality of his new found home, he must learn to be both wise and cunning. However, not all creatures of the forest share’s Bagheera’s affection towards Mowgli. The fierce Bengal tiger Shere Khan (voiced by Idris Elba) has made it clear: the man-cub is forbidden in their forest sanctuary.
The Jungle Book is a kaleidoscope of many different interactions among the beasts of the jungle, no matter how great or small they are, and having a comedic bear around who ‘prepares’ for his jungle hibernation is a great way to loosen up in an otherwise somber forest.
Disney’s The Jungle Book will debut in US theaters on April 15, 2016
