When it comes to story-telling, no one does it better like Disney. With a healthy mix of adventure, excitement, humor and even romance Disney is able to convey these feelings into powerful words and pictures, and on to the big screen. Now for the first time ever, Disney has the honor of picking up the baton for another beloved movie franchise and be able to tell its story to a younger generation in a way that Disney is known for. Our adventurous archaeologist, Dr. Indiana Henry Jones, will be back to the big screen on July of 2019 for another edge-of-your seat adventure for the fifth instalment of the classic Indiana Jones. Portrayed by Harrison Ford, Indy made his debut in 1981 in Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark. His daring exploits were soon followed by three more blockbuster hits: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Disney D23 reported that Academy Award Winning Director Steven Spielberg will continue to be at the helm of the as-yet-untitled project together with lead actor Harrison Ford reprising his role. “Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” said Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”
Since the opening of the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Disney-MGM Studios in 1989, Disney fans have embraced Indy together with the thrills of Indiana Jones-themed attractions at Disney parks all over the world.
We’ll watch out for more details as we wait for further announcements on our most beloved daredevil. So hang on to your hats as we keep an eye on Indy. Let’s just hope we don’t run over with snakes.
