If you welcome the thought of having an eerily mysterious, light saber wielding guy welcome you in your first galactic, Star Wars experience, then this might just be the trip for you. Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios have recently announced a new addition to their meet and greet crew at the Star Wars Launch Bay – and it seems to have a familial touch into it. Taking the place of the most formidable known nemesis in the Star Wars franchise, it is now Kylo Ren’s turn to welcome visitors and guests at the Launch Bay replacing his grandfather Darth Vader and probably putting him on retirement this February.
As portrayed in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, Kylo Ren is a commander of the First Order that seeks to destroy the New Republic and the legacy of the Jedi. Being a former Jedi himself, he was seduced to the dark side of the Force and aspires to become or even surpass his grandfather.
Meet and greet characters such as Chewbacca, Greedo, Jawas, and a host of Stormtroopers are one of the most popular aspects of the new Star Wars experience. According to Disney execs, the Launch Bay experience is designed to have a different character and they expect to add more in the next few months. It also serves as a means of promoting the Star Wars presence, building anticipation for the upcoming Star Wars-themed parks at the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.
The next question probably in everybody’s mind right now is: will we get to see Rey?
