Last night at the Golden Globes Creed took home some gold, and that’s a good sign for an upcoming Disney and Marvel movie. Black Panther will introduce us to a new character in full (‘Black Panther’ will be a part of Captain America: Civil War), and they recently landed their director.
How does this tie together? It’s Ryan Coogler (pictured above in backwards hat), who just so happened to also be at the helm of Creed, the relaunch of the Rocky films. Kevin Feige, the big boy over at Marvel, recently commented to Empire on the magnitude of this hire and this film:
This one is important. Not only do you get an unbelievable lead character, but you also get all of Wakanda which is a whole new setting and culture to explore. The movie is a big geopolitical action adventure that focuses on the family and royal struggle of T’Challa in Wakanda and what it means to be a king.
Sweet! Not opposed to this one, and can’t wait to how the new hero lands in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Speaking of the MCU…check back in about 8 hours for an cool update on all the characters in the MCU for another upcoming film.
Black Panther is set for a February 16, 2018 release.
