Could ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Tease ‘Rogue One’ in Credits?

Playing off one of the Marvel staples, a rumor is swirling around the inter webs that at the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which opens December 18, 2015 (less than three months away!!!), director J.J. Abrams will place a teaser for the Gareth Edward-directed standalone Star Wars story Rogue One! Seeing a short clip after the credits roll would satiate all Star Wars fans for even more of the glory that will come from George Lucas’ universe. However, it could be a strange decision because Rogue One will take place between Episodes 3 and 4, a full departure from the current trilogy.

Star Wars is far more than just the movies, with an entire spectrum of alternate storylines, literature and comics created over the past 35 years. How Disney and Lucasfilm choose to incorporate the other elements of the Star Wars universe into the cinematic realm remains to be seen, but if the rumor holds true it could shine more light on the vast magnitude Disney plans for the franchise; in the same way Marvel has owned the box office landscape of the past five years, Star Wars may be aiming for the same trajectory.

As a fan of Star Wars…not mad at that. And I’m hopeful this rumor is true. Staying a few minutes late through the credits is right up my alley. What about yours?
