I can’t ‘Let It Go’…sorry Elsa. The worldwide pandemonium for Frozen still reverberates through the younger Disney generation, and I don’t see it slowing down any time soon. So, no. I won’t let it go, because there’s another movie to be made and the world wants to know all about it as soon as possible! Well, lucky for you, some details have emerged about what will be the overly-anticipated and hyped sequel to Frozen.
Chris Buck, one of the directors for Frozen 2, along with Jennifer Lee, recently spilled the beans a little in an interview with Fandango in talking about Elsa’s character arc:
“[In Frozen] she had such a dramatic journey, and at the end she’s just starting to feel like she can open up and have some fun again. That’s what was really good about the short [Frozen Fever] – we could have fun with Elsa. And that personality … you will see in the next one.”
He also promised not to mess with the rapport and bond Elsa and her sister Anna share:
“We have two very strong female leads in Frozen. We will keep that going in the next one. We will tackle other issues that, I think, are out there today that boys and girls, men and women, are dealing with. I think we’re very aware of what is happening in society. I don’t think any of us take [them] lightly, even though they can be very funny and entertaining, the messages that our movies have and the influence they can have on young people. When the kids [watch] them, they watch them over and over again, and if we don’t have a decent message in there, I think we’ve missed an opportunity.”
We’ll see if that means more abruptly obvious socio-political themes bleed their way into the story, but either way it should provide a fresh look at one of the most popular Disney movies ever.
