In what may be the longest title for any of our posts ever on this site, we have to write it all out so you can understand the new and exciting news about the upcoming fifth installment to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise! Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is set to release July 7, 2017, even further back from the initial thought at end of 2015. While that may feel like a ways away still, production recently began for the film! As a result, we gathered some new tidbits about the film, including cast members and plot details!
Geoffrey Rush (Barbosa), Kevin R. McNally (Joshamee Gibbs) and Stephen Graham (Scrum) are set to return to their roles, while Javier Bardem, Kaya Scodelario, Brenton Thwaites and Golshifteh Farahani will all be joining the crew as they sail the high seas. Oh, and of course, Johnny Depp will be back as Captain Jack Sparrow!
In a recent statement regarding the project, Disney stated, “Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.”
