Yes, many of you may have heard the news by now, but we still gotta highlight one of the biggest stories in the Disney world of this year. You know movie that began the whole Pixar/Disney/better animation phase? The movie that was the forerunner for enjoying animated movies as we now know them? Yeah…Toy Story is coming back! With a 4th installment of the series, Disney is choosing to make fans around the world extremely happy to see all of our favorite toy characters once more, but this time will the adventure look the same?
Disney was initially hesitant to continue the franchise since the saga featuring Woody, Buzz and their friends as Andy’s toys found closure at the end of Toy Story 3, but the guys at Pixar and Disney found the opportunity to good to pass up. Director John Lasseter, who was at the helm for Toy Story and Toy Story 2, is teaming up once more to head up the film. On discussing the prospects of making a fourth movie he said, “We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before. ‘Toy Story 3′ ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another ‘Toy Story’ movie. But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie — and I wanted to direct it myself.”
We can breathe a sigh of relief as both Tom Hanks (“Woody”) and Tim Allen (“Buzz Lightyear”) will reprise their roles, but we’ll have to wait until July 16, 2017 to see the new film.
It’s a long way off…but we can wait. And it will be worth it.
