We’re now less than two years fro getting to see the Star Wars franchise carry on. The news has started to break in terms of who will grace the screen, including the casting of Adam Driver as villain, but now we’re starting to hear more rumors of who will play the lead role! Jesse Plemons (Battleship, Friday Night Lights) is one name we’ve seen before, but according to Variety.com you can add Ed Speelers (Downton Abbey) and John Boyega (Attack of the Block) to the list of candidates.
Without any finalization of casting, it’s hard to tell where the character’s storyline will lead, but it is believed that this character will play a younger Jedi apprentice. While these names may be less known than some young acting stars, director J.J. Abrams goal is to surround the lead with savvy veteran faces to fill out the cast, including Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and Harrison Ford (Han Solo).
Of these three options, who would you want to see in the lead most? There are other lesser-known theaters actors who could land the role, but these three seem to be the frontrunners.
Star Wars: Episode VII is set to release December 2015.
