‘Epic Mickey’ Studio to Shut Down

We just posted about some good news for the new Disney Infinity game that’s on the horizon, but not all the news is good in the Disney video game world. Disney is shutting down Junction point, the developer behind the Epic Mickey games. Disney sounded disappointed by the news:

It was with much sadness that we informed our teams today of changes to our Games organization, which include the closure of Junction Point Studios. These changes are part of our ongoing effort to address the fast-evolving gaming platforms and marketplace and to align resources against our key priorities. We’re extremely grateful to Warren Spector and the Junction Point team for their creative contributions to Disney with Disney Epic Mickey and Disney Epic Mickey 2.

One has to wonder if this means the Epic Mickey franchise is now done, too. Hopefully not…

  1. They ought to bring The Virtual Magic Kingdom game back to the disney online games website. If they made vmk a pay to play game it would earn them a hell of a lot more money then epic mickey 2 ever did.
