The speculation as to who would be at the helm for the new Star Wars trilogy has gone on since the announcement of the Disney/Lucasfilm merger some months ago. Early reports pegged Matthew Vaughan as the man for the role, while refuting that J.J. Abrams would take the lead. However, the early reports were wrong…
Yesterday it was announced that J.J. Abrams, the Director of Star Trek, Lost and Super 8, will become the Director for Star Wars: Episode 7! This is huge news, as it marks the first piece of news about the production of the film (the writer has already been named). It also provides a speculative glimpse into what the film and trilogy may look like stylistically. Abrams carries a maturity and darker tone to his films, doing an exceptional job revamping the Star Trek franchise.
Needless to say, this is huge news in the Disney world! Do you like the choice?
