‘Thor: The Dark World’ Adds Another Villain

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (pictured above), or, to me, ‘Mr. Eko’ from Lost, has signed on to play, in essence, two roles in the upcoming film Thor: The Dark World. We already know that Malekith the Accursed is the primary antagonist for our Asgardian hero Thor in the sequel, but Adewale’s character(s) prove to be quite the nemesis. And yes, the (s) is intentional, because Adewale’s character is none other than Algrim the Strong.

Algrim is perhaps the stronest of any of the Dark Elves under Malekith’s rule. Eventually, though, he is betrayed by Malekith. After the betrayal, and some other events in his story, too, Algrim transforms himself into a more powerful entity: Kurse (pictured below). So yes, Adewale will be playing two different characters…kinda.

While casting him in this role was a great decision, this announcement is more important because of where it says the storyline for the Thor sequel will go. I can’t wait to see how the battles and betrayals unpack themselves in the new superhero movie, set to premiere November 8, 2013.
