Some Details Emerge on ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

In our last post we discussed ‘Phase 2’ of Marvel’s superhero movies. The final of the five films for this phase is Guardians of the Galaxy. Not much is known about the film yet, or at least wasn’t. But recently some possible, I repeat, possible decisions might have moved closer than before.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel is in discussions with James Gunn to come on board as Director. Gunn’s previous works are much smaller in scope and size (Super and Slither), so hiring him would be a bit of a step for Marvel. The more intriguing thing to me is what this says about the film. Every one of the previous Marvel superhero films have been big-budget and attracted a full entourage of A-List cast and crew. However, putting Gunn at the helm gives off the impression that this film would be less grandiose. Not sure if that’s something you want to do with a movie based on a band of heroes that are formed to be proactive in saving the galaxy from harm. Well, that’s what the Wikipedia of Guardians of the Galaxy says is their purpose, at least.

What you think? Know any more about the Guardians?
