The Avengers to Close Tribeca ’12

So this is now two hiatuses (or is it hiautusi?) in the past month. Sorry for that…I’m just getting my summer trips in now since we’ll be raising a newborn during those hot months. But while I’ve been away, Disney sure hasn’t been. Some exciting news on the ol’ The Avengers homefront…

The Tribeca Film Festival, one of the largest now in the world, recently announced that The Avengers will be closing their 2012 festival on April 28th! There’s excitement from both sides for the selection, as Jane Rosenthal, Co-Founder of the Tribeca Film Festival, said, “Marvel’s The Avengers is an exciting ride that absolutely transports audiences. It is the perfect way to end our 11th Festival.” And in response to the praise, director Joss Whedon added, “Showing at Tribeca is both an honor and a double homecoming for me, who grew up in Manhattan, and for the movie, which wrapped production there. I’m thoroughly psyched to be closing the festival with our intimate little think-piece.”

An ‘intimate little think-piece’ is an interesting way to put one of the most anticipated action-packed films of the year. But I’ll buy it!

The Avengers opens nearly one week after the festival, May 4th, 2012.
