Whether it’s Disney World, Disneyland, or one of the other Disney Parks around the globe, everyone enjoys a trip to one of the most magical places on earth. When I was younger and visited Disney World I remember having to take the afternoon nap somewhere between the Tea Cups and It’s a Small World. But what if no nap was needed? What if you could enjoy Disney for an entire day?!?
Well Hopefully 2012 has been good to you so far. One of the unique things that this new year offers is a 366th day, February 29th! Yep, it’s Leap Year! And to celebrate the quadrennial day, Disney is going to open up both Disney World and Disneyland for 24 hours! It’s a full Leap Day at Disney!
From 6:00 AM on February 29, 2012 to 6:00 AM March 1, 2012, Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park and Disneyland Park will be open for park guests. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Tom Staggs recently stated about the special day:
We’re honored that so many guests have shared their Disney memories with us as part of ‘Let the Memories Begin’, and I’m pleased to announce that the campaign will continue throughout 2012. To celebrate, for the first time ever, the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Parks will remain open for 24 hours on Leap Day, so that our guests can take advantage of every minute of their extra day to make memories with friends and family.
Disney has also marked the occasion with a special offer for both of the respective Resorts. Guests who book a three night/three day room and ticket package at select Walt Disney World and Disneyland hotels can get one day/night free for stays between February 26-March 10, 2012. One consecutive night stay will be added to the hotel reservation and one park day will be added to the tickets for this limited offer, but packages must be booked by January 31, 2012.
In addition to these special offerings (as if that wasn’t enough), Disney will also give fans the opportunity to make Disney memories with the “Disney Parks One More Disney Day Sweepstakes.” From January 1-February 29, 2012, one sweepstakes entrant will be chosen per day to win a Disney Parks vacation for four at either Walt Disney World or Disneyland.
